BIOGRAPHY
The members of SS501 debuted on June 8, 2005 with their debut single 'Warning.' They, along with others, consider themselves different from other idol groups seeing as they don't have a foreigner or someone that is good at English in the group, everyone is just from Korea, which they even said that they thought was odd.
Since their debut, they have had various television shows and starred on different variety shows, their first being on M!Pick, documenting their three months up until their debut and also three months after. The show showed the hard times that they experienced also with the fun times that they were able to have. Besides just documenting their lives, they have also been in 'Thanks for Waking Me Up' which was during their Snow Prince times in 2006 and both hosted by Park Kyung Lim, which showed the sleeping habits of SS501 and the troubles that it took to wake them up. The sequel, 'Thanks for Raising Me' was about how they were looking after an abandoned dog, Daengee, until they could find her another home. Not only that, but they also got to experience what it was like to be pregnant, through a show entitled 'Big Mama.'
There was only one subgroup of SS501, but they still called themselves SS501 because they stayed true to the meaning of their name, five together as one, with the two S's meaning plenty of things, whether it be super, star, special, etc. The group was created during the year 2009 with Kim Kyu Jong, Kim Hyung Jun, and Heo Young Saeng, while Park Jung Min starred in the music 'Grease' as Danny and Kim Hyun Joong was in the popular drama 'Boys Over Flowers.' Once the activities and schedules of the other two were over, they once again reunited as five.
Currently, the members of SS501 are all on their own solo careers after their five-year contract had ended, although Kim Hyun Joong did fight for their contract to be renewed, as they were going to renew some, but not all of the contracts. Kim Hyun Joong has signed with KeyEast Entertainment, Park Jung Min with CNR Media, Kim Hyung Jun with S-Plus Entertainment, and Heo Young Saeng and Kim Kyu Jong have both signed with B2Ment. However, they did not disband as SS501 and still wish to create music together under that name in the future once all of their individual schedules end. The only reason that they did not go together to one agency is because one agency itself could not afford to sign all five.
Four of the five members have released solo albums thus far. Kim Kyu Jong is the only who has not as he wishes to focus more on his acting rather than creating another album so soon.

Name: Kim Hyun Joong (김현중)

Biography: Hyun Joong is SS501's leader, and the most 4D of the group. He has starred in two dramas 'Boys Over Flowers' and 'Playful Kiss.' Within SS501, he is the most awkward with Young Saeng, stating that he is able to joke around with everyone else in the group, but when it comes to Young Saeng, he is somewhat formal with him and still awkward. However, when they drink together, they act close, only to go back to their awkward selves the next day. Also, because of their drinking, it was revealed that one time they came back and Young Saeng lit a candle and unknowingly left sleeping Hyun Joong in the house, to which caught on fire, but thankfully, no one was hurt. Hyun Joong has also stated that when his mother was pregnant with him, the doctor suggested that he should be aborted because his elder brother is only thirteen months older than him. He is known not to be afraid of most things, however, he is deeply afraid of insects and, especially, dragonflies, which was demonstrated on 'We Got Married' to which he starred on the show along with Hwang Bo, which also demonstrated his 4D personality, and was nicknamed the 'Lettuce Couple' due to Hyun Joong mispronouncing lettuce during their early episodes. It is also shown that Hyun Joong is the one who is the heaviest sleeper with things such as writing on the foot, cold spoons, and loud talking, not waking him up. He also has a dislike for speaking English, even during their songs because he thinks that his accent is weird. Hyun Joong is the first member of SS501 to win an award after their contract has ended with his comeback song 'Break Down.'

Biography: Young Saeng is the main vocalist for SS501 and the most mysterious within the group, saying that he delegated himself for the position thinking that all groups needed to have someone mysterious and that not everyone could look approachable and also said that he didn't go on any variety shows unless he needed to with the actual group. Early after their debut, it was revealed that he would need throat surgery and that the group would need to take a break after promoting 'Snow Prince.' Young Saeng is very image conscious as shown through 'Thanks for Waking Me Up.' After he would be woken up, he would never face the camera and always find the nearest thing to cover his hair or his face. When given the nickname Otter at first, Young Saeng stated that he didn't like it since he didn't really know what an Otter was, but after he looked it up, he said that it didn't bother him anymore since he thought that they were cute. In his early years, Young Saeng trained under SM Entertainment for a short while, and then became close to Jaejoong (formerly of DBSK and now of JYJ) and Yesung (Super Junior), and particularly likes SNSD, even knowing and dancing some of their dances at various shows and events, and even sometimes does his voice impersonations, which he is the best at. However, he left SM for unknown reasons and was introduced, by a friend to DSP Entertainment. Young Saeng was also the leader of the sub-group while Jung Min and Hyun Joong did their own activities. With their new individual schedules, Young Saeng and Hyun Joong met on music programs while they were both promoting their mini albums, 'Let It Go' for Young Saeng and 'Break Down' for Hyun Joong, and even had a special stage where they covered 'Twist King' originally by Turbo.

Biography: Kyu Jong originally came from the countryside and felt closer to Young Saeng because he was also from the country and had a little bit of an accent. They both stated that they would try to speak in a 'Seoul accent' but their country accents would sometimes slip if they were exclaiming something. Within SS501, Kyu Jong has been voted the member who has changed the most since they met him since his skin was darker and he did speak with an accent and is also the most obedient one. It was also revealed that Jung Min helped him sign with the company by helping him with his hair and loaning him clothes. Kyu Jong respects his parents very much and is a filial son, even when he was young since his parents often worked at night, he had to make dinner for his younger sister when he was only eight years old. When his father also worked in Seoul, but didn't tell Kyu Jong's mother, Kyu Jong helped him. It is shown that he always wakes up the earliest within SS501 and is always the one who gets stuck in the middle, never making a clear decision when they have to do something as a group. Even though sometimes he appears to be shy, he is sometimes very outgoing in different atmospheres, but he never gets really mad at anything. Through 'Thanks for Raising Me' it was shown that Kyu Jong does not like does due to a bad past experience with them. Whenever the dog, Daengee, would come near, he would always find the nearest place to hide. However, he eventually became close. Kyu Jong is the only member of SS501 who hasn't released a solo album, instead, he decided to focus more on acting, even doing a musical.

Biography: Jung Min is one of the most playful in the group and is sometimes known as the 'Hyung Jun Killer' in 'Thanks For Waking Us Up' and also Hyun Joong nicknamed them both Tom and Jerry since they are always out to play pranks on one another. And through that show is also known to be the most violent when woken up and even sleeps with an eye mask and ear plugs. During their debut performance, Jung Min dropped his mic on the stage, and is even voted as the member who makes the most mistakes on stage. He likes to joke a lot with the other members and often does crazy things. According to his members, he is often the dirtiest since he keeps old food in his room for years claiming that he was going to eat it again but always forgets it and because he also wears toe socks since his feet always used to smell. During the time when the sub-unit was promoting, Jung Min starred in the musical 'Grease' as the main character, Danny. Before getting the role, Jung Min always sang a song from 'Grease,' even performing it at SS501's very first fanmeeting with his sister playing the role of Sandy. In the early days of SS501, Jung Min hosted Youngstreet with Young Saeng, but due to Young Saeng's throat condition, he later hosted with Kyu Jong until their Japan promotions. He is also the best at speaking Japanese, or any foreign language in SS501 due to his fast nature on picking up the language and his diligence in studying. According to Hyun Joong, while they were filming the show 'S0S,' Jung Min is sort of naive and easily persuaded into doing something. It was also revealed that all of the nicknames that the other members have were created by Jung Min. Jung Min was the first member to comeback after the contract with DSP ended, coming back with his first mini album 'Not Alone.' He also visited various other countries including Taiwan and released a Japanese song off of his mini album.

Biography: Hyung Jun is the youngest of SS501 and is often the one that is most bullied out of the group, mostly by Jung Min. He first entered the company because his father is friends with the President of the company. It is also said by the members that he helped everyone else get into the company, with the exception of Kyu Jong. It is also said that there were originally supposed to be 7 members of SS501, however, the other two were younger than Hyung Jun and they did not get along with each other and were eventually voted out. His parents also sent him, along with his younger brother, to school in Australia, where he picked up some conversational English. As shown on the show 'Thanks For Waking Me Up,' he is known to sleep with his eyes slightly open and snore, however, the snoring can be cured with a simple touch. In another show, 'Big Mama' it is shown that he is the troublemaker by convincing the rest of the members to take off their pregnancy experience outfits while attempting to sleep for the night, resulting in getting more time added onto the time that they have to wear them. The members have complained about Hyung Jun never spending money on any of them and being stingy and also complained about the fact that when the members slowly came to join the company, he would say that he liked each one more than the last one and even judged them as they entered as whether they were actually a threat to him or not. As told by Young Saeng on 'Intimate Note,' Hyung Jun and Jung Min have childish fights, along with Hyung Jun having elementary school insults. He, along with his younger brother Kibum (former member of U-Kiss), they have their own company together and produced one of his tracks 'Hey G' that appeared on SS501's solo collection album. He also hosts his own radio show at 2 in the morning entitled 'Music High.' Hyung Jun was the second to release his solo comeback album 'Girl' and like Jung Min, also completed a Japanese song.
